The Arakan Strategic Forum (ASF) welcomes the visit of H.E. Hakan Fidan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye, to Dhaka at a time when the Rohingya crisis continues to demand serious international attention and principled diplomatic engagement.

Türkiye has long been a valued supporter of the Rohingya people. Its humanitarian assistance, including the continued work of the Türkiye Field Hospital in Cox’s Bazar, has provided essential relief to vulnerable communities. Türkiye’s consistent voice on the international stage has also helped ensure that the plight of the Rohingya remains visible and urgent.

ASF believes that Türkiye’s diplomatic leadership can play an important role in strengthening international consensus around a just, practical, and lasting solution. Under the guidance of H.E. Hakan Fidan, Türkiye is well placed to help mobilise renewed regional and global commitment toward resolving one of the most protracted crises in our region.

Any sustainable resolution must be rooted in the safe, voluntary, dignified, and sustainable return of the Rohingya people to their ancestral homeland in Arakan, also known as Rakhine State. Humanitarian assistance remains vital, but it cannot replace a political solution that restores rights, security, citizenship, and a future for the Rohingya in their homeland.

The Arakan Strategic Forum remains committed to advancing informed dialogue, policy engagement, and principled advocacy for the rights and future of the Rohingya people. We call on Türkiye, Bangladesh, regional actors, and the wider international community to work together toward conditions that make meaningful and durable return possible.
